Supervision and social worker wellbeing

Supervision and social worker wellbeing

“Secure your own mask before assisting others”, a concept all too familiar in social work, places self-care at the heart of caring for others. How well are we doing in caring for ourselves? Where does supervision fit in? As part of our webinar series on social worker wellbeing, Dr Allyson Davys discussed the role of supervision in enhancing social worker wellbeing.

Allyson is a registered social worker who has practised social work in different social work contexts (statuary, health, not-for-profit and private). She has a long involvement with the tertiary education sector through teaching, research, leadership and management. Allyson has a long-established interest in professional supervision with a particular focus on supervision which spans professions. She has researched and published widely on supervision, has completed doctoral research on interprofessional supervision and co-authored two supervision texts;
Beddoe , L., & Davys, A. (2016). Challenges in professional supervision: Current themes and models for practice.  Jessica Kingsley.
