This engaging webinar, presented by a trained arts therapist, discusses creative and arts-based approaches that enrich assessment, encourage authentic expression, and support your own reflective self-care. An offering of fresh, accessible ideas to energize your work.
As social workers, we are always looking for creative ways to expand our connection with clients. The therapeutic benefits of the arts are well known. This webinar explores how creative processes and arts-based approaches can enhance assessment and engagement in social work, while also supporting social workers to reflect on their own practice as a vehicle for self-care. This webinar will offer simple, accessible strategies to deepen client connection, encourage expression, and integrate creativity into professional reflection. This is not a training in art therapy, but a practical exploration of creative approaches for everyday social work.
PRESENTER BIO:
Daniela González‑Bea is a registered social worker and trained arts therapist based in Auckland. Born in Chile, she has lived in New Zealand for 33 years, attained her master's degree in clinical arts therapies and runs her own practice, Nourishing Arts Therapy. Daniela works with ACC sensitive claims clients, both as an arts therapist, social worker and EAP counsellor in private practice.
She is a registered external supervisor with ANZASW and has worked closely with organisations such as Auckland City Mission since 2018. Daniela has facilitated art therapy groups with Hearts & Minds, trauma-informed groups for ACC clients living with DID and/or ODD, and school-based programs with Dance and Arts Therapy New Zealand.
Working with other social workers and social service professionals, Daniela weaves together arts therapy and supervision models to support self-reflection and self-supervision, which many of her supervisees then utilise in their own practice.
Her work is deeply grounded in helping clients and professionals engage, reflect, and express through creative processes, emphasising that art is about process, not product.
