60 Years of ANZASW: Legacy, Learning, and Leadership Wānanga

60 Years of ANZASW
Legacy, Learning, and Leadership Wānanga

Wow, what an incredible experience we shared in Tāmaki clebrating the 60th anniversary of the Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers (ANZASW).

From the warmth of the Mihi Whakatau right through to our final karakia, every moment was filled with connection, learning, and celebration, making our gathering truly unforgettable. This was a wonderful celebration of our rich history and an opportunity to look towards the future for social work and ANZASW.

Embrace the Wisdom of Our Whakataukī

Our theme, “Kia whakatōmuri te haere whakamua. I walk backwards into the future with my eyes fixed on my past,” encapsulated the essence of this celebration.

It speaks to the interconnectedness of our past, present, and future, reminding us that our journey forward is deeply rooted in the legacy of the past 60 years. This whakataukī invites us to reflect on our achievements, honour the contributions of those who came before us, and envision a future where social justice, human rights, and dignity continue to guide our path.

This anniversary has strengthened our connection as a community and hapori, celebrating six decades of meaningful mahi.
