Support Services Coordinator - Christchurch .5FTE

This role provides an exciting opportunity to work for one of New Zealand's leading cancer NGOs, Blood Cancer NZ (formerly Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand).  

With a Mission to Care and Vision to Cure, Blood Cancer NZ is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people living with blood cancers and related conditions by providing personalised patient support programmes, research, information, awareness and advocacy.

Blood Cancer NZ is seeking a Support Services Coordinator to join the Upper Southern region team based in Christchurch to coordinate and further develop services for patients and their families. This position is part time – 0.5 FTE, although working days are flexible.  

Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing practical and emotional support to patients and their families
  • Development and facilitation of patient educational seminars and support groups
  • Development and maintenance of relationships with other service providers and key health stakeholders
  • Coordination and resourcing of services for patients
  • Delivery of educational presentations to health professionals

The successful candidate will have a nursing or allied health professional background, with experience working in haematology or oncology. Possessing exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, you will be highly organised, computer proficient and able to work autonomously. Counselling skills would be useful. A clean driving licence is essential.

You will be part of a national team of coordinators and provided with comprehensive support to help you succeed in the role.
