Addiction Caseworker

Motueka

The Salvation Army Nelson is launching an exciting new Methamphetamine Harm Reduction Programme in Motueka.

This three year initiative aims to respond to and reduce the harmful impact of methamphetamine within the Motueka community through a range of evidence based, best practice services.
We are seeking to appoint a qualified and experienced Addiction Caseworker, based in Motueka, to support the delivery of this important programme.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provision of  strengths-based, trauma-informed casework that provides integrated care for those people who want to break free from methamphetamine harm and rebuild strong conneceted lives.
  • Provision of  comprehensive, whānau-centered case management for tāngata whai ora, supporting each person and their whānau to navigate the challenges of methamphetamine and other substance harm.
  • Group facilitation.
  • Provision of Education and Awareness events/campaign aiming at Reduce Stigma and Shame,Empower Communities with Knowledge, Promote Early Intervention, Support Whānau and Caregivers, Encourage Help-Seeking Behaviour and Build Community Resilience. 
  • Working within the framework of The Salvation Army Bridge Programme Model of Treatment.
  • Implementation of the Salvation Army Bridge Programme Policies and Procedures.

Person Specification: 

  • Diploma, Degree in Addiction & Drug Studies/Social Work/Counselling.
  • Commitment to continuing professional development relevant to Alcohol and Drug studies.  
  • Full or Provisional Registration with DAPAANZ or other professional body.  
  • Relevant experience in, working with people with addictions, individually, in groups and with their significant others. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Good cross-cultural understanding
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment, sharing information, ideas and effective practices while maintaining client and service privacy, and confidentiality

Hours of work: This is a fixed perm (three years) full time role of 40 hours per week however part time hours may be considered for the right candidate.

The starting salary for this role will fall between $68,000 and $102,000 per annum. This role is covered by the pay equity agreement and the final remuneration will be dependent on the years experience of the preferred candidate brings to the role.
