Member of the Social Workers Disciplinary Tribunal
Applications are sought for one social worker member of the Social Workers Disciplinary Tribunal (the Tribunal). The Tribunal hears and determines disciplinary charges laid against registered social workers.
The Tribunal comprises a Chair, one or more Deputy Chairs, at least five registered social workers and at least one layperson. Tribunal members are appointed by the Minister for Social Development and Employment (the Minister) under the Social Workers Registration Act 2003.
Applicants must be registered social workers who can bring the view of a ‘reasonable and experienced registered social worker’ to Tribunal discussions, and can provide input into the decisions that are drafted by the Chair or Deputy Chair.
Applicants should understand the Tribunal’s role, matters likely to come before the Tribunal and ideally have experience working as a social worker within a government setting.

Please note a layperson member of the Tribunal is being sought separately.
Members of the Social Workers Registration Board cannot be members of the Tribunal.
Members are only paid for the hearings they take part in. The fee is set under the Cabinet Fees Framework. The current fee for work undertaken by members is $450 per day.
